Gosaikunda Helambu trek is a picturesque trek, a bit more tiresome and suitable for the adventure journey lovers. The Langtang National park is the main base of this trek, which lies in the northern part of Kathmandu. The trekking route includes the pristine Himalayan Lakes, ethnic villages, high pass and variations in flora and fauna.
Gosaikunda Helambu Trekking begins from Dhunche, that is reachable in 7-8 hours bus/jeep drive from Kathmandu. Crossing the Tamang settlements and walking through the national park, which is a pocket zone of the snow leopard and red panda, the trek goes up to the alpine region. Gosaikunda is a holy lake for Hindus and Buddhists. The Hindu mythology says it had soothed the burning poisonous pain of lord Mahadev, who also meditated inside the Lake. The Gosaikunda peak and some Tibetan Himalayas can be explored from there. Lauribinayak pass (4610m) is the most challenge in this trekking, but still to descend to Ghopte is still challenging. Entering into the valley of Hyolmo-Helambu is a wonderful valley of the Sherpa ethnic groups. Culturally, the place is remarkable to explore and the trek concludes at the Melamchi Pul Bazaar and drive back to Kathmandu.
From the point of altitude sickness, acclimatization is essential for Gosaikunda Helambu trekking. NTB Adventures arrange all the required trekking equipments for your trek with expert trekking guides. Contact us for more details.
