Shivapuri day hike goes through the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, the green hill and through the dense forest. Stepping above the local habitations with the bright sunlight, you discover the place of hermitage and the source of the holy Bagmati River. The Shivapuri peak is located at 2732 metres, which is the highest point of this trek. The wonderful sceneries of the Langtang range can be explored from there.
Budanilakantha temple, about 8 km distance from the central city is a starting point of the Shivapuri hike. The national park is a shelter of more than 500 wild animals and it is a conserved area. This trip is more fascination for the hiking lovers when you are in Kathmandu. The Nagi Gompa on the way creates a spiritual sense on the hikers that you can visit there. The hiking trail is located at the southern slope of the hill. Then the route is prevailed with the rhododendron forest. Be careful with the monkeys that may snatch your belonging. After reaching to the source of the Bagmati River and hike further to its top. You can have your day lunch pack there, sitting on an open ground. The weather is cooler there due to the high altitude. Day 01? Begin your day hike in Shivapuri after the breakfast, cross the Nagi Gompa, hike further to the Bag Dwar (the origin of the holy Bagmati River) and to the Shivapuri peak. Hike down from there and conclude the hike at Buda Nilakantha.
