Upper Mustang lies in Annapurna region of mid western Nepal Himalayas. The hidden and mysterious Upper Mustang region is popular for trekking activities. Upper Mustang used to be a separate kingdom within unified Nepal until very recently. It has not been a long time that has come into a connection with the rest of the world which was a separate kingdom in Nepal. The stunning facts of Upper Mustang are its historical and cultural prosperity that makes the trip worthy to take on. The geographical setting is dominated by the desertlike landscape with colourful flowers.

Trek in Upper Mustang is also popular for the monsoon excursion. It lies in the rain shadow area beyond the mighty peak of Annapurna. It goes through the desert landscape hemmed in by the Himalayas. Up to Kagbeni, the trek goes along the route of the Annapurna circuit and it departs for the upper section of the Mustang region. This restricted area trekking leads you to the fabled walled town at Lo Manthang. The Tibetan influenced local people live the nomadic lifestyle in traditional houses and have several monasteries as a sign of their spiritual integration.  Celebrating various festivals is their part of daily life. Among them, Tiji festival is the most significant which is the worship of the god of rain. Their houses are made from mud which is unique and wonderful in itself. The brownish sandy hills and bushy plants are the visible sceneries along with the snow capped peaks in the surroundings. Following the Kali Gandaki bank, the trek ends back at Kagbeni and finally at Jomsom.
